The Palace-Park Complex of the Czartoryski Family

The residence was erected in the 18th century. From 1720 to 1726 a wooden summer palace was build and in the years 1881–1883, the main palace was completely rebuilt and formed in the late-Baroque style. Some other buildings were preserved in the palace-park complex from the first half of the 19th century such as an outbuilding, a pavilion, an octagonal pavilion, a guardhouse, an entrance gate with railing and a stone bridge. The ensemble is surrounded by a beautiful landscape park altered from the Italian garden that is noticeable in its arrangement.

In the palace many splendid gests were entertained e.g. Julian Ursyn Niemcewicz, Tadeusz Kościuszko, tsar Alexander II. The palace was also a centre of the social life of aristocracy. After the end of the November Uprising, the Puławy collection of Izabela Czartoryska was kept in hiding there, later carried to Hôtel Lambert in Paris and nowadays exhibited at the Czartoryskis Museum in Cracow.

Presently, the palace-park complex houses an exclusive hotel and a park opened to the public.
