Marketplace and Town Hall

In the center of the historical urban arrangement the town hall erects that was firstly mentioned in documents from the Middle Ages period. The present building dates to the mid-17th century. There is a spacious entrance hall on the ground floor and on the first floor offices of municipality and a vogt-assessors court room. An enormous tower dominates over the town hall.

Its present form was constructed in 1909 when it was rebuilt. The final of the cupola spire has a form of coat-of-arms “Leliwa” – a six-pointed star with a crescent and an outstretched hand with a sword – the “sword law”, a privilege of passing death sentences by the vogt court by the end of the 18th century.

On the place in front of the town hall, there is a monument of king Władysław Jagiełło, unveiled in 1910, on the five-hundredth anniversary of the Grunwald battle and as a commemoration of granting the town’s rights to Przeworsk.
